St. Patrick’s Day Braided Bracelet

Create this green St. Patrick’s Day themed braided bracelet using the square knot technique.

Materials:

Pony beads

Clipboard
Scissors

Instructions

Step 1:

Gather your supplies.

Step 2:

Cut (2) pieces of Braiding Cord to 7 ½ feet in length. Fold the strands in half and tie the folded ends into one knot with a small loop. Now you have one big knot and 4 strands of cord.

Step 3:

Clip knot under clip of clipboard in order to secure the bracelet for crafting. Separate the four strands and begin creating square knots. To learn how to make a square knot, click here.

Step 4:

Make (8) square knots in a row. Thread (1) green Pony Bead onto the center base strands.

Step 5:

Create (2) square knots.

Step 6:

Thread on another green bead to the center base strands and repeat (2) square knots.

Step 7:

Thread on a third green bead to the center base strands and begin creating more square knots.

Step 8:

Create (8) total square knots after the third bead.

Step 9:

To create the design shown, use the following pattern: (8) square knots, (1) green bead, (2) square knots, (1) green bead, (2) square knots, (1) green bead and repeat for desired length.

Step 10:

Once you are at your desired length, you will need to create a closure to secure your bracelet. Start by making a double knot at the end of the bracelet with all four strands.

Step 11:

Thread (1) green bead through all four strands.

Step 12:

Leave a small gap and tie a second double knot with all four strands.

Step 13:

Use scissors to trim excess strands.

Step 14:

To wear bracelet, wrap around wrist, slip final green bead through original knot and pull to tighten.
